this means the little munchkin is going to be a 1-year-old. The last year has flown by. I can’t believe it’s almost been a whole year since Max made his entrance into the world. and what a crazy day that was…
ummm…   Labor story anyone?    

don’t worry it’s short.
i promise.
and i’ll show a horrible picture of myself.
so it’s worth it.   

On thursday, August 27th 2009, 4 days after my due date, I woke up at 5:15 am with one of the worst cramps of my life. You know how ‘they’ always say you’ll “know” when you’re in labor?  WELL I KNEW.  I stayed in bed for about 15 minutes trying to time the contractions. They just seemed so close together and strong, but I wasn’t sure. I kicked Scotty and said “It’s happening” he just kinda murmured “ok..” and went back to sleep. What help he was. I got up and went to the computer and logged on to contraction master  (BTW if you’re expecting bookmark this) to time my contractions to see if it was ‘time’ to go.  By this point they were so bad I had to ride them out on all fours trying not to scream. after about 10 minutes it was determined my contraction were  lasting 90 seconds each with a 90 second break in between. It was time to go to the hospital because momma wanted NEEDED  an epidural. Luckily my mom was staying with us to help with Leah, so I didn’t even have to wait for someone to get to our house.
I called to Scott that it was time to go. He got out of bed, got dressed and went to the bathroom and CLIPPED HIS NAILS while his wife was crawling around on the floor in pain.
Seriously I married the most pokey man on the planet when it comes to needing to get out the door. He didn’t believe me that I was in much pain as I said I was. FINALLY we head to the hospital (about a 10 minute drive) and arrive around 7am. I crawl into the emergency room,  and the smart ass male triage nurse asked me if I was having a baby and I snapped “I sure as hell hope so!” (BTW while a laboring lady is riding out a contraction it is not a time to make jokes). I immediately got sent up to the labor and delivery ward where after asking a million questions and more contractions, the doctor checked me to determined I was already 7cm. So I got admitted. and then I got asked if I wanted an epidural. Hell yes I says.
by 8:30 I was epidural-ed. As soon as they layed me down after giving it to me I felt the urge . ( Which if you’re curious feels like you need to make a huge #2).
But there was no way I was telling the nurses this, because I knew If i did they would make me push, and frankly I wanted the epidural to ‘set’ in and I was way too tired to push. Instead I called my Sister in law to tell her she’d have a new niece or nephew today and put on my Ipod to drown out the sound of the lady in the next room that obviously didn’t have time or declined the epidural.  thats when Scotty snapped this beaut of me:

When the nurse came back at 9:15 to check on me I told her I needed to go to the bathroom. She gave me a ‘sure you do’ look. You see most women (me included) are afraid of making a number 2 on the delivery table. I assured her it was not a #2 and she helped me to the toilet. at this point my water promptly broke. and the nurse grabbed me by my wrist and dragged me back to the bed. Yup. 10cm… time to push.  The next 10 minutes I pushed and pushed and pushed untill finally the nurse flopped my squirmy little baby on my chest.  I grabbed onto the little human and immediately looked for the goods… a SON! Since Scott and I had already decided on Names before,( Maxson or Carly ) I was able to greet the little guy with

“Hi Max i’m you’re momma”

and he cried(For the record, babies do that) and started to root for some boob right away.
“Fine!” I said and gave in to my teeny little boys demands for the first but definitely not the last time.   

Back to a more pressing issue…. tomorrow is a big day. My SAHM days are officially over.

At approx 9am I will start my new job. I’m pretty happy about it. It’s with a great company that wants to help me reach my personal career goals. It comes with more money and better hours than my previous job. It’s a pretty good situation to be in.

What I’m nervous about is dropping my kids off with a virtual stranger while I’m at work. I’m sure it will get easier, but tomorrow is going to be tough. I’m sure my munchkins will have a blast playing with the other little nuggets at daycare, but it won’t make me miss them any less.  I got a picture of each of them to put up at my desk, and my daycare lady said I could call as much as I like to check in. 
I know there’s much bigger things than this and I could have much bigger problems but for now I’m going to be  a nervous wreck.

As I announced months ago, for Father’s Day this year I bought the hubs tickets to Star wars in concert.
And because I’m super cool like that I forked out extra cash to get VIP tickets. If you are thinking about going to the show, I definitely suggest going with the VIP tickets. Not only do you get kick ass seats (6th row!) You get a free merchandise item (we got some blankets) but you also get early admission to the exhibit.  We enjoyed being able to take pictures with all the props before it got too crowded. I even got my picture taken with my boy Yoda.

 I’ve never done good in crowds, so having access to the exhibits with out the huge crowds was worth the extra money.  Although when they let the masses in, it was fun to watch the folks that came in full costume.  Scotty got a little nervous before we left the house, worried that he’d look like a dork if he wore his Empire Strikes Back T-shirt. I assured him that he’d be fine considering that this was a Star Wars event, and that there were surely to be bigger dorks that him present. 
The show itself was spectacular too, hosted by 3-CPO himself. The music was played by a live orchestra, who were amazing! There were huge screens set up behind the orchestra, playing scenes from all 6 movies that were in sync to the music. Combined with the laser light show we were totally and completely immersed in the show.  For geeks like us, it was one of the best live shows we’ve ever seen. and I seriously recommend that if you have the chance you should go too, whether you’re a fan or not. I promise you it will blow your mind!

I should point out, just in case anyones wondering, I didn’t get paid in any sort of way to write this post.In fact I spent a lot of moolah on our tickets.  We were just that impressed. 

I can’t believe for someone with no job right now, how much spare time I don’t have. I’ve got just a few weeks left on my maternity leave and I’m still debating on whether or not im going to go get a job. For the most part I feel my job is my kids. Unfortunately they don;t pay very well. So I guess its time to dust off the old resume, and research daycare.

We are still waiting for the hood house to sell, but it looks like we might need to drop our price for a second time.  We’ll see what happens.  We are still staying with my parents, and honestly it’s going great. The kids love the extra attention, and I love that I’ve been able to sneak off to the gym 3 times a week. Scott and I have even been able to snag ourselves 2 date nights!

 The second time was just a trickle but it still counts. right? Honestly I haven’t really started to potty train, but we bought her a pretty pink potty for her birthday and she likes to sit on it. So I switched her to pull ups and started to pull down her pants when she sat on the potty. And she has peed. twice. I’m not going to get all excited on go full throttle on training yet, I just think it would set me( and her) up for disappointment. But this is a good sign, and perhaps an indication that she might be ready sooner than later!

this pleases me. lots. I couldn’t be happier, especially since the boy has started to sleep thru the night! My children might just be the most awesome kids in the world!

I love Canada day!  It’s a day for BBQ’s, fireworks and beer.  I’m looking forward to having myself a cheeseburger.

Leah turned 2 last week and celebrated with her BFF, Dee  I even baked and decorated 2  princess cakes all by myself.

Not bad for my first attempt at decorating isn’t it?  There is that little spot above the “A”  in “Leah” that is driving me crazy. It kept me up the whole night before the party. It’s things like that lead me to believe I have OCD tendencies.  (and yes I changed the name on the blue cake, since Dee isn’t my kid I didn’t use her real name, sorry creepers)

We had a great time catching up with old friends and Leah had a ball showing off  her new bouncer…

but My favorite part of the day was catching this moment on camera, possibly my new favorite picture of the little munchkin,

I just think she looks so grown up here. It makes me want to stop time. *tear*

February 2008

On June 22 little Leah was born, 10 days before her due date, and not wanting to be that late for the party, little Dee was born 5 days later on the 27th of  June.  
When Leah was 3 weeks old, Scott and I packed up my Sunfire and drove home for another one of  my best friends weddings. Amy and I were so stoked to get the gals together for the first time. Because whether they liked it or not they were gonna be BFF’s! 

July 2008, Leah is 3 wks, Dee is 2 wks.

 Over the last 2 years, whenever we’ve had the chance we’ve made sure to get pictures of our girls together, 

Next weekend they celebrate their second birthday with a big double birthday party! It’s hard to believe that 2 years have passed since these little gals were born. Now that we live a lot closer, I’m looking forward to the many playdates these little gals will have over the years. And the playdates that the mommies will have too! 

Have I mentioned today that I’m glad to be home? because I am!
